Who are we?
As a credit union, we’re a not-for-profit financial cooperative with the sole purpose of helping people. Our credit union was founded in 1948 as Roanoke Postal Employees’ Federal Credit Union to give Postal workers and their families in Southwest Virginia affordable financial services. In 2013, we opened our doors to the greater Roanoke and Lynchburg communities and became Blue Eagle® Credit Union. Since then, we’ve grown to multiple offices in several localities, robust virtual and digital services, and a service area that now includes a large portion of Southwest Virginia and Central Virginia.
What do we do?
The simple answer, we deliver banking services and financial solutions. While we embrace being digital-first, we also believe technology is only as good as the people behind it. Humans will always be our differentiator. Just read our reviews on Google to see what we mean.

Why do we do it?
Why do we come to work? Why do we stay? Because we make a difference in the lives of our member-owners. Credit unions were built on the philosophy of people helping people in the mid-1800s, and that still holds true for Blue Eagle Credit Union today. Credit unions were created as cooperatives to meet the financial needs of all people. Today we use the term financial inclusion. This inclusive culture still is at the forefront of all we do and what inspires us each day.
We are driven by our vision of enriching lives and our core values of Quality Service, Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Education. The decisions our volunteer Board of Directors and our Leaders make are intended to benefit the cooperative membership as a whole. When you open an account at Blue Eagle Credit Union, you become an owner. The more business you, and your fellow members, do with the credit union the more everyone benefits. We rise and fall together.

To open a Blue Eagle Credit Union account, you have to live, work, worship, or attend school in the following areas:

The immediate family of a current member
The household of a current member
The spouse of a deceased member
Immediate family includes spouse, child, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, grandchild, step parents, step grandparents, stepchildren, stepbrother, stepsister and adoptive relationships. Household includes persons living at the same residence as a single economic unit.
